Re: Hatch pattern
Are you going to use the engraver to put the hatch pattern onto the text? This can be done in DesignEdge.stickitwelding wrote: Fri May 31, 2024 11:11 am Morning everyone, is there a way to do hatch patterns in design edge i dont know about? ive been playing with Inkscape to it but cant figure out how to make a hatch join inside text for when i import into design edge.

You are quite welcome! Let me know if you have any questions about using Inkscape to automatically create your hatch patterns.

Re: Hatch pattern
What do you mean by "how to make a hatch pattern join inside" in DesignEdge? I am unclear on what you want to do.stickitwelding wrote: Fri May 31, 2024 11:11 am Morning everyone, is there a way to do hatch patterns in design edge i dont know about? ive been playing with Inkscape to it but cant figure out how to make a hatch join inside text for when i import into design edge.

Re: Hatch pattern
That is great, but I thought your question was, “how do you hash pattern into text, using DesignEdge software?“

Re: Hatch pattern
Likely easier to do the hatch pattern in Inkscape and open in DesignEdge unless you have a trick up your sleeve Joe......Joe Jones wrote: Mon Jun 03, 2024 12:47 pm That is great, but I thought your question was, “how do you hash pattern into text, using DesignEdge software?“

Re: Hatch pattern
Yes - that is exactly what the OP was looking to do. He could not find a hatch pattern tool in Design Edge, so had been messing around with Inkscape - which does have several hatch pattern tools. I suspect his problem was that he may not have been converting his text to paths before saving to import to Design Edge. I believe that I was able to put him on the right path and he can now achieve his goal.plasmanewbie wrote: Tue Jun 04, 2024 1:08 pmLikely easier to do the hatch pattern in Inkscape and open in DesignEdge unless you have a trick up your sleeve Joe......Joe Jones wrote: Mon Jun 03, 2024 12:47 pm That is great, but I thought your question was, “how do you hash pattern into text, using DesignEdge software?“

Re: Hatch pattern
You must do a DOUBLE outline of the letter in order to set such a design into the interior. I did a video on this ... Looking for it ....
Ah! Found it!

Re: Hatch pattern
You can also do the offsetting in Inkscape before you save as dxf for import to Design Edge. Then when you open with Design Edge, simply create your cut paths for engraving and cutting.stickitwelding wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2024 9:44 am so i did a few practice letters the other week that worked out well but now im having an issue with this file when trying to make a cut path. im sure its something simple.
