snapping parts to center and aligning parts

I'm struggling with centering parts and snapping parts to center and aligning parts . see photo.

Andrew - I really can't tell much from your photo. Perhaps share your file that you are working with along with what you are trying to accomplish and I will have a look.

If you are trying to snap that tab to the center of the top edge, you must first use the SMOOTH tool and a small value to REMOVE extra nodes.

Select the main shape.

Type [h] [.005] [ENTER]

Now place the tab at the center.

[m]ove [m]idpoint (Click on the midpoint of the bottom flat edge of the tab)

[m]idpoint (click on the top edge of the main panel)

The tab will be place at the center of that edge.

You cannot snap to the midpoint of a line that has more than TWO nodes. You must first eliminate the excess nodes using the SMOOTH command.
