Crosshair alignment for Laser Etchers

Post by acourtjester »

I posted a YouTube video about alignment of the crosshair led on a the Laser etcher/cutter. And also 3-D printed a adjustment know for the Z axis on the laser which makes it a little easier to use, attached is the STL file for the knob. This is for the Ikier brand.

Thanks for that Tom! I will take a look at your video and save your stl file for potential use once I have my identical laser etcher up and running. I'm just finishing up the cart. Built from 1 1/2" square 16 ga. tubing with 18 ga. galvanized steel shelves. The top will be plywood with probably a masonite cover (spoil board). I used one of my Rhino Carts to fixture it up for welding. Forgot to take pictures.

Nice cart something I added was a lower shelf to be used with the rotary attachment I bought for the laser. I can remove the spoil board layer and have the other below for the rotary, To do mugs, glasses, or round objects for gifts. I had one for my lower power laser and just added the one that ikier sells for the one we bought. I 3-D printed some leg sockets for the laser, so it just slipped into them for mounting the laser to the table base.
Also have another lower shelf for the power unit and air assist unit.

Tom- that's a great idea!! I will make my top layer/spoil board removable, so I could add that if necessary. I also wanted some where to locate the small air compressor unit - so I thought a lower shelf might be a good idea.

Tom - have you made any new projects lately with your Ikier? That knob looks interesting - I may just have to print one.

I have created some wedding date plaques for friends and family (one for the boss too)and a few funny plaques for fun. I had a custom hat made and sent the guy a thank you wall hanger. Using 3mm plywood from Amazon and Home Depot I made a gig so I can mount projects and have a standard starting point. Makes it easy to remount projects to made additional engraves and cuts.
