Corel closes open paths when saving as dxf
Long time corel usesr . Weirdness happening now , when I do a save as crd drawing to dxf , when I open the new dxf open paths are closed . When I save as a cdr drawing that was grouped to dxf , when I open that the open paths are missing ? WTF ?
My design , 4ft x 8 ft water table

That is very strange and I am not sure what that would start happening.
You can try restoring the default Corel setting that came when your software was new.
To do this press F8 and while holding it down open CorelDraw and defaults will be restored.
Curious if that works for you in this situation.
