Swirl mark on electrode and shield.

Post by DannyD »

Hi, looking for advice re some weird wear I'm getting on my consumables.
I have an 45XP setup with machine torch on a Crossfire Pro.

Thinking about the swirl of a burnmark on shield and electrode in the pics.
Eventually this will burn right through the shield, just didn't have one of those handy.
What might be causing this?
Any thoughts?

Thanks,
D

That will be contamination in your air supply. It is being burned up in the plasma arc and leaving those deposits. What are you using for air filtration?
