CNC Plasma Cutting Excel Pricing Worksheet

Post by mdwalker »

I have noticed a lot of discussion on product pricing. Here is the original Excel pricing worksheet (with a few updates and modifications) that I posted a few years back. It has made the rounds through other forums and has been modified several times by other users. Feel free to use it and to modify it to suit your needs.

Worksheet looks good, been messing with it this afternoon, converted it to metric and ??? etc :)

What I'm wondering is how to arrive at the the preset costs like pierce cost and cost per distance cut.

Design time seems easy, metal costs plus 50% is ok too.

I've tried a few figures but not happy with it yet.

I run a home micro business - garden stuff etc but also occasionally get asked to cut custom stuff and find it really hard to keep plucking figures out of the air, this sheet should help when I get the framework correct.

Thank you for the file. When someone asks how did you arrive at that price I can now show them. Too bad there isn't an APP that works in a similiar fashion.

I've thought the same thing. What I might consider is getting a small tablet that will run Excell. That way if some asks a price on something its just as handy as a cell phone.

Plus with a tablet you could store examples of your work for potential business if somebody asks "what you do"

Has anybody used this file on a tablet/iPad? How did it work for you?

I have been trying to figure out how to make an android app for a excel sheet I had made just so it would be a little easier. But I have my excel sheet on my phone as well as my Note tablet so I can give rough prices on the go. Also have a credit card reader on both as well for taking payments or deposits.

I use it in google sheets on my phone for that purpose. I'm not sure how you arrive at inches of cut though out ont he go. I usually draw it up and run it through sheetcam. Most of my pricing becomes contracts so I don't lose too much time doing it this way. It also allows me to do a preview for the customer.

Anyone else have a problem opening this in Numbers (08) on a Mac? The error message isn't too helpful..."The document “CNC Plasma Price Work Sheet 03152013.xls” could not be opened. I've tried to set the "open with" program in the file's info, drag and drop to the tray, right click/open with, etc, and I get the same thing every time. Any help is much appreciated! (For what it's worth, I can "quick look" it and see the spreadsheet, but I also can't open from there).

Danny,
Tried your worksheet on a project I had last weekend, it worked great!
Also, I was able to charge a bit more than I normally would have!
Thanks for the share!

Is this for a finished product or raw metal? Yep, I'm a newbie to this stuff and pricing has been a point of contention between myself and the former owner.

The Plasma estimator Can't be updated. I tried to manually input my data and it wouldn't save the data. The program looks to a good program, but useless if I can't update info. The program is dated a few years back. Staying with the excel version unless some has figured a way for the program to accept input data and save it. I've sent an email in hopes I will hear back shortly and have the answer or fix for the issue.
