We are getting close to ordering a CandCNC system for our buglarized table. We are going with a Powermax 85 most likely, maybe a 105. My question is, what is the performance difference between a mini machine torch and a standard, and then the duramax. Whatever opinions you guys have , we would love to hear.
Thanks to all of you on Plasmaspider, I learn something new every day!!!

Re: Powermax 85 or 105
The torches used on the Powermax65, 85 and 105 are all called the Duramax torch. There is the machine torch, the mini machine torch, the 15 degree hand torch and the standard hand torch. There also aretwo torches designed for industrial robotic cutting applications. Internally they are essentially identical. The machine torch can be converted to a mini machine torch in 5 minutes by removing the mounting barrel.
The consumables sets for machine cutting and hand cutting are the same with the exception of the shield...there is a hand cutting shield (for drag cutting) and a machine cutting shield.
So.....no performance difference.
The torches can be viewed at this link: http://www.hypertherm.com/en-us/Product ... x85.jsp#tc
The Duramax torches are also available as upgrade torches for most of the older technology Powermax plasma systems....they come with he correct connections for the older systems....which include the Powermax600, 800, 900, Powermax1000, 1250 and 1650 systems.

Re: Powermax 85 or 105
Good to hear you guys are getting close to having an operating machine again. I might be wrong but I think the 105 is a three phase only machine. That might be a deciding factor if there is a possibility you might have to relocate to a location where three phase is not available.

Re: Powermax 85 or 105
Thanks Jim so much for the information. Bill, I think your correct, the 105 is a480 V, 3 phase machine. We have decided to go with the Powermax 85. Heck, if we need the 105, we will be making so much money it won't matter! We do have a 230 to 480 Transformer, so we are good there!
Hope all is well with you Bill, I am enjoying watching Mikes responses here!
