Post by swidick »

Hello, Need some input on this piece. I need to know what type of break it takes to bend the sides down and top up. Its a Raised dog bowl stand. Thanx in advance...

If you cut some relief lines in the part. You could bend it over the edge of your table by hand.

I little trick I use if the parts are not to wide is to shift the upper and lower dies of the break. This means the dies are overhanging in the air. I would go as far as 1 foot overhang if just bending 1/8". So when I do the second bend, the material doesn't hit the the top plate of the die holder. Remember that break dies are super expensive, so don't get carried away. It's also a bit of job if you have a 12 foot wide break. This method.... USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! Again, be careful and use good judgement.

This method doesn't always work, for example if the space between the first and second bend is shorter the the height of the upper die.

Hope this helps,

depending on height and thickness you can user a box and pan hand break to do all the bends. mine only has 5" of clearance so thats the max depth of the box the reverse return bend i can only get up to 2" deep
