Sometimes when I need a quick rip cut, i simply set the the Rapid Travel Speed to the same as the Cutting Speed, then move the tip to approximately where the cut will start. The cut starts when pressing the TEST button and the a jog arrow button.
I do this because sometimes it's just quicker then to try to find the exact plate edge. I have used a bit of the Mach3 on a Machitech table and I haven't figured out how to do this. An advantage of the Plasmacam, it will allow you to keep the torch switched ON while pressing the TEST button even if there's not metal present. That means that you can start the torch at the outside edge of the plate. No need to get out the zip cut.
Hope this can help someone.

Works like a charm. Easy, fast, great tip. THANKS.
I it every time I load a 4 X 8 sheet on the table. Put one jack stand in the middle on the other end, then rip. Cool.
