Wow, this is great. Are you working off a particular set of plans for this build?

Looks good.. You may have wanted to go a little wider though.. I used the white board from HD and that shit atracts powder as good as the parts!! LOL wondering how the drywall will do.. I made mine 4' wide..

If only I had the room, I'd be building this tomorrow. It's been more than a year since the OP. Would you change anything in the design? How has it been functioning?

I would go a bit bigger, and would give more thought to the fan/ventilation.... I'm doing a lot more powdercoating than I ever figured on, and the vent/fan/exhaust portion is critical..... I have a nice woodworking style dust collector that I'm thinking about adapting to the setup to make it more efficient!

Re: Built a spray booth today!
I made my spray booth myself as well. For ventilation I used these two items purchased from Home Depot.
This is an attic vent fan. Cost is 77 bucks complete. Mounts perfectly between 16" center studs.

The next thing I got was air conditioner filter registers:
http://www.homedepot.com/p/SPEEDI-GRILL ... 542263-_-N
These work perfectly because you can install standard filters, they mount directly into 16" center studs and can be opened to change/clean the filters without tools or fuss. Cost 30 bucks (filters not included).
The fan is mounted on the back, the filters mounted on the inside. Works perfectly, catches about 80% of all powder in the filter, the rest hits the ground. I get nearly zero powder floating in the air outside of the booth and zero powder comes out of the backside fan.
Hope this helps.

Re: Built a spray booth today!
DO YOU PLANE ON MOUNTING FILTERS ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE FAN TO CATCH EXTRA POWDER THAT PASS THRU THE INTEIOR FILTERS SO IT IS NOT FLOATING AROUND IN YOUR SHOP.

Re: Built a spray booth today!
If you slip a removable shelf just below the filters, you can increase the suction of the fans by reducing the intake air by decreasing the source area. Also, your flyby powder is easier to reach with a vacuum. For the bigger pieces, just remove the shelf.
Mine was made with what was available (free). These are shipping frames for Harleys. The dealership was going to just trash them.
The back wall was cut out for furnace filters and framed for a HF shopvac.

AnotherDano, how did the shop ax work as far as controlling over spray powder?

Re: Built a spray booth today!
Dano is no longer with us, but I did buy his booth off his son. He ended up using a Grizzly 1 1/2 HP dust collector, and it works very well, I get next to no over spray on the powder.
