DXF - finding out size

Post by stomper »

I have been checking out the dxf file sharing portion of the site and can't beleive the skills of the people on here and the generousity to share them. I wish I had the skills to draw like that so I could pay back with some files. What I am wondering is how do I find out what the physical size (dimension) is of the finnished laser cut peice. Can that be figured out by veiwing the dxf file. Can the size be adjusted. I have solidworks eDrawing free download for veiwing the files.

I would think your cad program would give you some sort of X and Y dimension, say 12" by 12". You could then scalle it to 24 x 24, or whatever you want. Also in my cnc program, I have the option of importing a file with the import value set at above or below 1. I use that a lot if for example my file is 48 inches wide or tall. I can import at .95 and the file is now 45.6 inches.
