upgrading plasmacam dhc

Post by POPS »

Hello,

I'm considering the designedge upgrade for my Plasmacam DHC and was wondering what I could expect.
Has any one with a DHC bought this upgrade?
If so was there any improvement to the Height control?
Just looking for an honest report not a sales motivated "you might".
2000 bucks is high but it would be worth it if helps.

Thanks for your thoughts and comments,
Ron

Pops,
There's a lot of chatter over on the PlasmaPIG group on just the same subject.
I doubt you'll get any improvement on a DHC height control without upgrading to DHC2 however, Plasmacam are presently offering current owners some sort of deal so, it may pay to contact them.

If you're having trouble saving config's, I think you should contact P'cam.
I have no problems at all in fact, I'm impressed by the increase in settings now saved.

When saving configurations make sure that the configs in the right hand box are highlighted that you want to save

Thanks for the input
I'm still up in the air as to whether this is a $2000.00 improvement.

Pops,
Can you elaborate on the problem you have with the height control?

George,

The problem I'm having is the torch slowly lowers during cutting.

I have a DHC and for some reason the height control has never worked correctly. It touches off at the pierce point but afterwards it stays way up off the material . I tried cutting some tin that was rippled and it made a hot mess.

You need to adjust the ARC VOLTAGE SHIFT to a lower setting until the torch is at the correct cut height. The ARC VOLTAGE SHIFT is a calibration to your particular torch.
