1/8th aluminum cut marks from slats help
Hello all I am new to cancel plasma cutting. I have been learning a lot from this forum and my cut quality has improved a lot since I first started. The issue I am having now is the marks left on the material from the torch cutting over the table slats. Any help/advice to reduce these marks would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Deck slates with points rather than a straight slat will solve your problem. Had the same issue, cuts were PERFECT and then the torch passed over a slat and left slag, and a brown stain.

I call weldguy's deck slats with points a "Sharks Tooth" design, not only do they allow a cleaner cut but they last longer as well. Here is a 1" cut:

How big is your table, can you cut your own? I built a jig for my 2x2 to cut it's slats 1/2 at a time, then movie it and finish the cut.

I'm not sure of your mounting design but if you make them reversible you get 2x the bang for your $$Rickypistols wrote: Sun Mar 16, 2025 7:05 pm 4’x10’ its has a lot of slats but you are right I can can my own its probably the best way budget wise! Thanks

Would like to see a pic of your setup with the new slats. I am fully confident you will get the results your looking for and it will be time well spent cutting your own. Alternatively you could weld on some little points to your existing slats at a spacing that works well for what your cutting. Aluminum slag on the slats my be a problem with this method but I figured I would throw it out there if it helps.
