Re: New to the forum
Welcome. There are many who built their own tables.
I am sure they will be responding as well.
T.J.
ps-I have a build in my signature.

Re: New to the forum
Why do you want to build your own table, as opposed to getting something "turn key?"
I know it is fun and all, but if the purpose of the plasma table is to make money, why invest umpteen hours into reinventing the wheel?
I have to say that my Samson 510 table is awesome. It is the "Big Brother" of the PlasmaCam table.
Most cnc plasma table are pretty much the same. They all move a torch over a cut path at (nn) inches per minute, etc. The REAL difference is in the software. That is where the PlasmaCam shines. You use ONE software to design and cut the piece, while most other tables require you to design in program one, convert in program 2, and cut in program 3 ...
The new PlasmaCam GENESIS table is the next generation of the PlasmaCam, and it has a lot of improvements. I hear through the grapevine, that they are also planning to release a 4x8 and 5x10 version of this GENESIS table at some point in te future. I am guessing that tey want to sell off teir remaining DHC2 and Samson 510 stock before they aggressively push the new, larger GENESIS tables.

Great another DIY member
Building your own table is a good project, you get to learn so much in the process. There is lots of labor and help for members is easy to get. It is not the "Indiana Jones table of doom" like some think. Do your research and formulate a plan, find the sources for the components. There are companies that sell packages that help with the electronics and some for the mechanical sections. You also have choices for the software you use, most are connected to the controller for the table. Ask questions here as many member are happy to help, you can use the search function in the upper right for a look around.
Have fun Tom

I guess at my age, if I want a classic car, I BUY a classic car. As a teenager I would have loved to take on some rusty hulk recovered from the bottom of a lake. but now, I just want to enjoy the finished product while I am still alive.

Re: New to the forum
Tom - you offer some very good advise here! I like that idea of the electronics packages along with some of the mechanical sections - perhaps a "turn key" gantry as some have done in the past. Lots of great ideas here.acourtjester wrote: Sat Mar 08, 2025 10:28 am Great another DIY memberBuilding your own table is a good project, you get to learn so much in the process.
