Hello Group,
Pretty new to this, so don’t be surprised if I ask the dumb questions. I bought a used PlasmaCam and I’m learning, lots! I live in eastern Idaho and this should make a very nice hobby. Might even make some money with this thing.

Hi Tim,
Thanks for giving your location, something that most people seem to avoid for whatever reason. There are several PlasmaCam table owners in your area. One of them, Kirk is in Arizona for the winter, but he is quite adept at running the table and software. He lives in Fruitvale, ID.
I am available for help with the software if you need some guidance.
What do you plan to make with your table? Tell me about your DesignEdge license, and any upgrades you may have added to the license. Are you going to stick to metal art (14 gauge steel or thinner?) or are you going to make braces, saddles, gussets, bulldozer parts, etc.?
Which plasma cutter are you using on your table? Are you using a hand torch or a machine torch?
Welcome to the insanity!
Joe

Joe, most of the items should be metal art, 14 gauge mostly. If someone needs something, I’ll try, but I’m new. I intend to have fun. I have an older Hypertherm 45, but I’m going to up grade to a 45 sync, as parts are getting difficult to find for the older 45’s. I have used the hand touch for the things I have cut. I purchased the table for less than half price from a guy that never used it, at all. The table came with the wood router and the metal router. I have not played with those, yet.
The software seems user friendly. I have cut lots of Christmas ornaments, that I created using the software.
When Kirk returns from being a snow bird I should meet up with him.

Welcome aboard Tim! There are quite a few members here using Plasmacam tables - myself included. I agree that this should make a nice hobby for you. Assuming your table came with the Design Edge software - the Video Manual explains quite a bit about using the program as well as troubleshooting your table (should the need arise).Hardrockshot wrote: Tue Dec 10, 2024 9:43 pm Hello Group,

For gaining more knowledge about the Design Edge software, I would highly recommend taking a look at Robert's Learn Plasmacam Youtube videos.
https://www.youtube.com/c/LearnPlasmacam For spare parts and more, you can visit Robert's Learn Plasmacam Store.
https://www.490creations.com/collection ... LSWBb-DO8f There are also several sections of this forum dedicated to the Plasmacam tables

and Plasmacam Design Edge software.

Good luck with your new venture and let us know if you have any specific questions. I will also look forward to seeing some pictures of your shop setup and some of your projects.

Thanks, I will watch the videos. And yes the design edge software came with the table. The original buyer had two seats, but after the transaction I was allowed one seat.
I have had to replace the torch Cable and one of the drive motor cable as they both failed. The torch cable was me pulling and pushing too hard. Learning experience.
