Motorcycle Trailer Pod?

Post by Joe Jones »

What do you think? Could I make this into a trailer pod to tow behind my motorcycle? It is even the same COLOR as my bike!

I WILL be bidding on this one!

I am sure it could be done but that looks like a COFFIN! I am not typically a superstitious person but I would not want to toe around a coffin around behind my bike LOL

They are fairly popular! Narrow, so easy to tow behind a motorcycle, sealed, for water resistance, easy to mount an independent torsion frame beneath it! Lots of them show up at Sturgis every year.

I won SIX of them in this auction. Now, a road trip to West Texas to go get them!

There is no audio after "Joe! Coffins ?!?"

At the end of the video, I show you what I intend to DO with these coffins. I am going to mount them to frames on wheels, remove the satin linings, replace them with truck bed liner or aluminum interior panels, build some structural interior dividers, maybe add an interior cooler for drinks, etc., and add side marker lights, tail and brake lights, and possibly more.

What do you think about the name, "Dead Weight Trailers?"

I am in Abilene, Texas tonight. It was a very long drive. I left El Paso and drove 50 something miles. Then I got a phone call that the blue casket which I did not win in the auction was for sale by the guy who won it. So I turned the truck around and drove 50 miles back to the auction yard and picked up that blue casket. I also picked up one child’s casket, which is very nice so I have seven caskets now. The child’s casket is in the backseat of my F250 and it fits perfectly. The other six are on the trailer along with the excavator and the accessories all tied down for the night.

Tomorrow I drive to Conway Arkansas to visit with a cousin on Sunday morning and then I should be home by Sunday evening.

I arrived at home and unloaded all of the coffins, and the excavator and the accessories today, with the help of two friends. We actually found a place to store the coffins inside of my shop (seven coffins!) and then we put some gas into the excavator, and checked the oil, and jumped the battery. We got it running, and I can't wipe the smile off of my face! I got the excavator for $3,000.00 and all of the accessories for only $775.00. I saved about $4K :Yay

In a world where one might need to deal with an aggressive home invader without wanting to bother the neighbors or local authorities, such machine can come in quite handy. :-o

The trailer independent torsion suspension will be something like this... Attached to a steel frame with a tongue, this will work very well!

So .... now I need to decide whether the wheels will tuck inside of the coffin body, or protrude to the exterior, with fenders and taillights, etc.

There is something to be said for making the fenders a feature. Using my cnc plasma table, I can give them a particular spider web pattern, or maybe a flowing black cloak look! For the lights, I will use all LED lights, and the interior will also have its lights, and its own power supply. Maybe some speakers and a radio? A built-in dash cam? A GPS tracker?

I have decided to do some fiberglass work and change the two piece lids into one-piece lids. This will lessen the chances of water seepage, and also allow the lid to tip up to reveal a flat screen TV/PC monitor, or whatever.

I hope to have the first one done by the end of January.

"DIRT NAP"
I think it's a great idea. Only thing is the bike that tows them should have some sort of similar theme on it to go with the trailer theme. Otherwise there is a sort of disconnect when people see it on the road. At least that's how my eyes would view it.
Here's an extreme example of what I mean.
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/CCCLLjOd ... ture=share

For those that prefer not to click on links, search "Wicked intent semi" and you can find a lot of pics and info about it. Nothing I have any intention of doing, but man do I admire the creativity and willingness to follow through with his vision.

Anyway, a bike that tows a coffin, for any fun reason, should still have some connection with the theme to make it...."flow". Maybe something like find a used fairing and put it on the front of the coffin with a low wattage yellow head light. Maybe find a couple kids plastic toy shovels and paint them to look real, just small, and put them on the bike to look like you're going to dig the hole. Ya know, stuff to make the setup flow, but easy to undo when not towing the trailer.
Anyway, hoping to follow this thread and see it unfold. I wish all the best in this project. You have the makings for it now, and seems like the will to proceed, so....
