Floating head fires every time I power on my hypetherm 65
I am new to plasma cutting so forgive my ignorance. We just got everything wired up and installed, we bought our 5x10 table from Premier plasma. We have even done a few cuts and it is working, but we are having some annoyances. One being every time we power on the hypotherm the torch fires for a brief second and then blows air into the bed for 20 seconds. When we have the breaker off and power everything else on first it doesn't fire, but then when we turn the plasma cutter on we have a 0-51-0 error.

0-51 error indicates the plasma cutter is receiving a start signal to fire the torch when the plasma cutter is being powered ON.
If you have a switch to test fire the torch be sure it is not set to test. Do you have a test fire switch?

I am not aware of any test fire switch. The only switch on the head is the torch disable switch that throws the 0-50 code. Is it possible the software has a non-physical switch?

Ok so a test switch isn't the issue.
I had an old system back in the day and if the ccnc controller wasn't powered on when the plasma cutter was turned on, it would fire the torch. It was a poor design and I always thought it to be unsafe but maybe that is your issue.
Try powering everything else on first and the plasma cutter last.

You may need to look at the controller's torch fire signal, If you have it set to the wrong signal like normally closed it will fire with power on.
If using Mach 3 it may be set to active low and should be active high. Check the software setting for the fire signal.

Do you have the charge pump signal in mach3 wired up? It prevents your controller from reacting to errant signals when things are starting up. You can purchase a charge pump circuit board with a relay to wire into your controller power.

Good advice from AC and DJ above. Curious what you find out about it.
