Highschool Shop, what 4x8 table to buy?

Post by HSshop »

Howdy,

Im looking to upgrade to a 4x8 table/package with a new system in our high school shop. We have an OLD 4x4 plasma cam that we still plan on running, we just are looking to upgrade. Any input on a good "student proof" "student friendly" 4x8 table?

Thanks for any help/ideas y'all may have.

I don't like having to learn a new software and controls especially if you are keeping the old Plasmacam. If you are familiar with the Pcam system and like it I would suggest sticking with them for your larger machine so everything remains the same but table size. The only problem being is that they do not have a 4x8 but rather the Samson 5x10. Aside from that all the manufacturers who advertise are reputable and if one of them is local to you I would suggest checking them out.

A second non P Cam machine would show the students alternative systems to run. What part of the country are you in?

Well that's a very good point and since Pcam software is unlike any other mainstream cnc software that students would encounter in the workforce that's a very good idea.

Consider a machine with seperate CAD, CAM and CUT. The industry of CNC relies mostly on that pattern. For a hobbyist it might be fine but for a school it would be a dis-service to 'push button, get biscuit'. Also take a good hard look at us. We have replaced all major brands in schools. www.StarLabCNC.com
If Matt is using this profile he is one of the OGs of Plasma. If not then a technician. We make the worlds fastest and largest CNC plasma tables up to 10x40. www.StarLabCNC.com :Like Check out our Facebook page where we update frequently. https://m.facebook.com/StarLabcnc/
