Cutmaster 42 problems

Hi all, I recently picked up a Cutmaster 42 for a very fair price, knowing that he had said the torch "needed to be replaced". I have the following behaviours and it doesnt pilot:

1. when powered on, it does the 10s purge startup. Sometimes the AC light flashes 1s on, 1s off. Other times its 1s on, 3s off
2. this difference correspnds to how hard I tighten the shield cap down
3. I have inspected the consumables and they "seem" ok. I replaced the start cartridge as it was stuck hard. carefully emeried them all just in case
4. Ive checked the pinouts in the torch, all seems fine including the trigger
5. the plasma is temporarily hooked up to a small pancake compressor, 2.5ish cfm, should be enough to get it to fire
6. the only thing I can see amiss is theres broken plastic inside the nozzle . It almost looks like it partially melted, possibly causing the electrode to not seat right.

Judging by your description and the error blinks your seeing I suspect it is an issue with the torch. Can you post some pics of the consumables, torch, torch damage?

So I got the torch in pieces in a bag... just realized I may have not put that final orange ring in place, seems to fit there in the last pic. Off to test this out!

Ha, nevermind. I needed that orange ring from the last picture. It works fine in my 1s fire! Perhaps i had broken part of that inner ring removing the electrode as it was pretty sticky, but all is well.
