plasmacam dnc trouble with up down

Old software so plasmacam wont even try to help. When trying to move torch carrier up and down with z axis motor manually, if I press down arrow it goes down put when pressing up arrow it wont go up untill it goes all the way down keep tapping the up arrow it goes down ?????????

It is possible your controller keypad is faulty and causing your issue. I don't expect it would be too costly to replace to give that a try.

I think I answered this somewhere already. Maybe on the Owner forum? Check motor windings and harnesses. This is how it behaves if one winding is open or connection faulty.

Is the up/down on these machines a stepper, servo, or basic DC motor?

The Z motor up and down is a stepper motor.
