There is a simple free program called 123DDesign you can load DXF files and then extrude them for depth. It will allow you to rotate that all around for viewing or images with the snipping tool (Windows). I use it to generate STL files for 3-D printing. I sure you can do it in Fusion 360 too.

Yes - Fusion 360 will do the same. Simply import the dxf and extrude to your desired thickness.

You are welcome Chris! I haven't used the one Tom referenced, but it looks interesting as well. Fusion 360 is free for hobbyists, students, etc.
Let us know how you make out.

123DDEsign is a small program that is one step in the process type. You need a DXF file to use it, it is no where the scope of Fusion 360. I use it as part of the journey to getting a project ready to 3-D print. Draw CAD then 123DDESIGN then to a slicer then to the printer.

Re: Turning 2d into 3d
Chris - if you are interested in leaning the basics of using Fusion 360 - Arnold Rowntree has some excellent Fusion 360 tutorial videos. Each one is short and to the point, and he provides the practice files he is demonstrating as a separate download so you can print them out for reference as you follow along with each lesson. I went thru Arnold's tutorials twice a few years ago when I was making the transition from SolidWorks to Fusion 360 - which I find so much easier to use due to the simpler and more straight forward user interface.

Chris - here are the steps to convert to solid model (extrude) using Fusion 360. It's much quicker than you would think once you have done it a few times.
If you then save them in stl format, you can use the 3D Viewer to show them to your customers. The 3D viewer has settings for colors, lighting, etc.

Here is the dxf file I am using for this example.
