New to plasmacam

Post by DonnaSzucs »

Hi all. I purchased an older model plasmacam that can with no instructional books so I have been teaching myself for a year now. I have made a few designs but most from the art disks that came with the table. My computer connected is an old version of windows so new art disks won’t work for me. I’m struggling with using ideas off the internet to input into plasmacam with the lines all goofed up or not able to use software because it’s a dfx file. Is there a way to do this? I’ll from British Columbia, Canada and there are not too many CNC users where I’m from, so don’t have much help. Thanks for allowing me to join and hope to meet some of you online.

Donna - welcome to the forum. What Plasmacam software do you have - Design Edge or 3.11? I believe you should be able to import dxf files with either one of these. Are you saying that the art discs that came with the table work, but that you have other newer discs that don't work? If the newer discs have pcm files, then I can convert them from pcm to dxf format for you. Give me a PM.
Thanks,
David

Hi Donna,

As others have said, you should be able to import a DXF file easily no matter what version you have. It would be helpful to know what table model you have (DHC, DHC2 etc) as well as what version software (Under the help, about menu) to be able to answer more specifically. I have YouTube videos on Design Edge that will be very helpful if you use it, if you have 3.11 or older, some of the information is similar but the keyboard shortcuts and features will be different. Links to the info I have is in my signature. Let me know if I can help in any way!
