SheetCam - Pricing per inch

Post by Rickzink »

I have been struggling trying to figure out pricing for plasma cutting. I have finally settled on a model that involves pricing per inches cut and number of pierces.

My question is, how can I have Sheet cam determine count my number of piercings as well as tell me the overall inches cut in a file?

Thanks in advance.

Once you do your operations, click on job report and it will tell you all the info for that piece.

That is great to know! I don't see where it has recorded the number of pierces, but I suppose you could just count them manually for the first part - assuming you are cutting many of the same part.

Sheet Cam has its reports but it is only a piece of the pie for pricing. The biggest time factor for me at least is the customer. Remember, you cannot get into their head to convey exactly what they want. This takes up a lot of time and we all know what time is. You need to make sure you charge for your drawing time and add some back and forth time in there as well as well as final sign off before even turning on your compressor or plasma machine. Also, factor in getting the material, loading it on the table, doing a dry run, consumables, elect costs and on and on. I factor in my material 2 fold. Which means if I totally mess up a cut and need to make a new cut I am not eating the material, i am just breaking even on material costs.
