Using the Trim Tool to save time in CorelDRAW

Post by CorelDRAW for Plasma »

The Trim Tool is very helpful and if you don't use it I am sure you will after watching this video.

In this video we will use it to create a pocket with a 5" radius at the base of this bracket. Of course you can draw this radius if you wish however this is faster and even easier in the instance.

Check out the video and reply to this post with any questions you have. Have fun!

Justin - thanks for the video. I have no problem following your instructions on using the trim tool for this. Now I just need to figure out how to draw the bracket with CorelDraw. I messed around with it for about an hour, but couldn't figure out how to trim away the lower portion of the circle after drawing the sides up from the bottom to tangent to the circle. So I cheated and drew it with Design Edge and imported to CorelDraw as dxf to trim.

Could you provide a brief description of how you drew the actual bracket before you added the cutout at the bottom? Maybe just a few sentences describing your process. As you probably know, I am completely new to CorelDraw and have not had the time to take a course or watch may instructional videos yet.

Thanks,
David

Good question David. Have a look at this video for a quick run down on that https://www.plasmaspider.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=34289

Justin - sometimes the trim tool does not seem to be active when I select the rectangle I wish to use for my trim tool.
Is there a special technique of something I am missing here? It seems to be "hit or miss".
Thanks,
David

I have never seen that happen. Are you able to re-create that problem, save the file as cmx, and post here?

I will see it I can recreate it. It was happening quite often when I first started practicing trimming. Maybe it is something with my copy of the 2020 version.
Thanks,
David
