Hello, we're a small welding shop looking into buying a CNC plasma system. This would be used for making custom artwork for gates, wall art, etc.
We need a set up that is good quality, reasonably affordable (<$20,000), and user friendly... hopefully a very simple computer interface that would still allow nesting.
We are brand new to this kind of equipment.
Any advice on good brands to look into (or avoid)? User friendly software?
Thanks!

I would recommend the Plasmacam DHC2 or Sampson 510, depending on if you want a 4x4 or 5x10 table size. Both come with the Design Edge software, which I personally consider to be the premier CAD/CAM/control software for cnc plasma work. The DHC2 including Design Edge with software upgrades for Advanced Design, Advanced Machine Control, Advanced Height Control, and Nesting will run you around $13k. I personally own and use several of the DHC2 tables, have owned them for about 5 years now with no problems, and most definitely recommend them.

I built my own table, so I can not recommend any particular table manufacturer. But I'd say it depends on how much control you want of the process, how computer literate you are, and the customer service the table manufacturer gives after the sale. Search on PlasmaSpider any table you are considering and see what the real world users have to say about their table. You being a welding shop, you might want to consider welding up your own table and buying a controller to run it.

I agree with WyoGreen, I also built a few tables, something you may consider, Happy to share info if you would like.
Many users of different table shown here, you will get better info from a true user, not a sales person.

I would like to check into the Plasmacam DHC2 CNC plasma cutting table as you suggested above.
Can you give a current USA / Canadian distributor or internet link?
My search directs me to Multicam in Australia.
Thanks

You can order the demo video packet directly from Plasmacam (linked to below). The packet has all current prices and ordering information. When you get ready to order you will call Plasmacam directly with your credit card information (or bank wire transfer). Currently the DHC2 is discounted from $9998 to $7998 plus shipping. So about $8300 out the door.gtj wrote: Fri Dec 10, 2021 11:06 am
