problem cutting thick material
Hi, I have been recently having issues cutting 1" steel. I used to be able to cut flawlessly at 13 ipm with my pmx85 but now i am having no end of grief. It will cut for a foot or so then start not cutting through anymore, no codes, airpressure maintains 120 psi minimum. I had had an air problem in the past but got that resolved. Checked the filter in the back of unit... is there an internal power supply issue? thin material like 1/2" is fine

Check the oring on the outside of the torch body. You may be leaking air.

Where you located? Is it hot and humid as hell like it is here? Possibly too much moisture in your air supply.
When it stops cutting through what does the orifice in the nozzle look like? Is it still round or is it oval or deformed in any way?

I can always feel air blowing around the torch. seems like it comes from where retaining cap joins the body. I thot maybe that was normal for cooling? maybe not. I'm in NW Ontario, has been quite warm but this has been an ongoing struggle even back in the cooler days

Air around the torch head is normal but be sure the o-rings are in good shape and lightly lubrcated.
So how does the hole in the nozzle look after the 1 foot of successful cutting when it goes to crap?

Orings or oring? am i missing one? Shape of the nozzle depends on how quick I shut it off. If it blows back out of kerf for to long it kinda wrecks them. If I am there to stop it I can restart and keep using nozzle

Re: problem cutting thick material
Technically there's 2. There is one on the swirl ring and one on the torch body. I've only had issues with the one on the torch body. I use a small amount of silicone grease on the orings.

As djreiswig there are 2 with the biggest problem oring being the large one on the torch body however swirl rings are a consumable item also. For the cost I would get a new swirl ring if you have many hours on your current one and it will come with the new oring installed.cutnweld wrote: Tue Jul 27, 2021 4:09 pm Orings or oring? am i missing one?
