I want to build a new control box for my table and have decided to go the Linux route. I'm in the process of accumulating the parts, including a 7i96 and a THCAD 10. I will be using a Hypertherm 45xp. I 'm sure I'll have lot of questions along the way. In fact I already have one concerning the 7i96. I notice there seems to be two locations for the 5 volt input as shown in the enclosed schematic. Which one to use?
Also here is a wiring diagram I plan on following. I found this online so thanks to Kyle. I'll be using different drivers though (DM556), and powering them with 48 V.

On checking the manual I think I'd power using the seperate pins you circled but I suspect the other connector in the circuit would work to.
I would use these Meanwell power supplies. No need to go over the top
5v MDR-20-5 https://oceancontrols.com.au/psm-150.html
24V MDR-40-24 https://oceancontrols.com.au/psm-154.html
Also I would add a 90-100 ohm 10 W resistor (or 3 x 270 ohm 5 W in parallel) as a pull down from the ArcOK input pin 10 to the Common ground on the 7i76e. This will ensure the current flowing through ArcOK relay in the Hypertherm exceeds the 100 mA minimum current (it will be about 267 mA with 90 ohm resistance). This has no affect on the 7i96.
Also be sure the ArcOK debounce in the config is set to 10 ms as the relay has a 10 ms turn on time. Anything shorter may stop the arc right at the beginning of the cut due to signal bounce.
I would add max limits to each joint too if you have enough inputs.

Thanks Rod for the reply and debounce and resistor tips. By common ground do you mean the pin right beside pin 10 or the 5V ground?
As for power supplies, I'm trying to use what I've got on hand which is a Meanwell RD125B. It's a dual channel 5V@4.6A plus 24V@4.6A. I was going to use this for board and switch power. Could this be used for the drivers too? My motors (4) are 3.5A. I've also got a 48V@12.5 which I was going to use for the drivers which are rated for up to 50V. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks

Just check you can get 24v out of the dual power supply. The one I have needs a lot more current on 5V than what a mesa card draws before the 24V voltage side is turned on. I tried with a 5v/12v with no luck.

Should be enough inputs for limits. Running a 7i96 with individual limits and IIRC there’s one or two inputs left over.
