Sheet steel storage cart

Post by aaron868400 »

My first project with my table was to build a storage cart. I have a 2 car garage so space is limited. I have been lurking on this forum for a while and have seen some great ideas. I'm not sure which posts I saw them on but big thanks to the person or people who posted.

Everything is 1/8in wall with 1/8in sheet for the floor. I will soon be getting the engine hoist set up for lifting sheets as they are harder to move than I expected.

I worked in a shop once upon a time where an employee was killed with a similar cart. A caster failed and the metal fell on him. I'm sure the cart had much more weight on it then you will.

acourtjester- I took a look at the post and watched the video. His setup looks pretty slick. I like it. Might have to build one similar. I may have came across a trade for a forklift to make things easier but well see. Thanks for showing that to me!

ian. - I could see how that is possible. Yes, I wont be loading it too heavily and those caster should be many times stronger than I need. I almost made the cart wider in fear of it tipping but it seems very solid and heavier than I thought it would be. Thanks for the heads up tho!
