Re: cut setting for 1/16 mild steel
Hi Tony,
Here is the Hypertherm cut chart for slow speed FineCut mild steel. This may get you in the ball park.
The recommended settings for the Hypertherm 45xp, 65, 85, etc. would be:
Current Setting - 40 amps
Cut Height - 0.060"
Pierce Height - 0.150"
Cut Speed - 150 ipm
Pierce Delay Time - 0.4 sec.
Air Pressure - 100 psi at machine while cutting
For non-FineCut consumables, here is the Hypertherm cut chart for 45 amp shielded mild steel. The recommended settings would be:
Current Setting - 45 amps
Cut Height - 0.060"
Pierce Height - 0.150"
Cut Speed - 350 ipm
Pierce Delay Time - 0.1 sec.
Air Pressure - 100 psi at machine while cutting
Some of the Plasmacam software has a setting for "Wait for signal before moving". If you check this box, then this may save you some trouble trying to get the exact pierce delay time dialed in. I always use the Low Speed FineCut MIld Steel chart for 10 ga. and thinner mild steel using the Hypertherm 85 with FineCut consumables on my Plasmacam DHC2 table.
