Re: control box for plasma cam
I always turn it off when I'm not using it.
Better yet, unplug it also (power cable from control box).
It only takes a second to initialize it when you need to cut again.
The only reason I do this is in case of a power surge or something like that.
I have so many things running in the shop when I am working (compressor, welders, grinders).
My be a little overkill but well worth the extra effort.
Once I had it plugged in while a storm passed by.............Lightning hit the service panel
Hope this helps.
Ever since that, I keep it unplugged.

My plasmacam and the computer on it stay on most of the time (24/7). I have used it that way for a few years.

Re: control box for plasma cam
Not only do I unplug my computer and PlasmaCam when I am through for the day, I also run both of them on a battery backup. That way if we get a power surge or outage my computer and plasmacam stay on long enough for me to shut them down properly and it helps protect them from power surges.
