I have run into a problem a few times with dxf not working. I use qcad, occasionally I find a file that will not open there. I have used some of the files from the forum and they open, others do not. Any thoughts?

Some software just don't play nice with other software, nothing you can do about it.
Even though it is in a format (DXF) does not mean you can read it.

Interesting thing is Sheetcam can read it just fine. I had not tried that before, I got hung up thinking I had to preview it in qcad.

you can download a program called Irfan view and then get the DXF plug in you can display DXF files very easy like displaying jpeg or bmap images.
