I just started painting and I am using automotive paint, mostly from Sherwin Williams Automotive . So far I am pretty happy with my progress and my final projects are improving. What really surprised me was the cost of the primer, paint, reducers, activators and clear coat etc. I am spending more on paint than anything else. I know it will get better as I build an inventory of paint from previous jobs but I am laying out some cash for paints right now.
I like the finish I am starting to get and all, but was wondering if there is any other more economical paint to use. What are other people using for finish painted items? What are the alternatives to automotive paint?
Thanks, Mark

Re: What type of paint?
I mostly use Sherwin Williams clear coat base coat. Have tried several rattle can brands and like the Krylon best. It seems to have better coverage than most others. Although I have had a BAD day with it today.

Re: What type of paint?
I have never had much luck with spray cans if the object took more than a few passes. I always seemed to get runs.
Other than spray cans, is automotive paint the way to go?

Re: What type of paint?
I usually use RustOleum rattle cans and clearcoat with automotive clearcoat.
