Scribe Pricing
Just wondering how others are pricing their scribe work, my new table has a scribe and we are going to use it a lot for our parts.

Re: Scribe Pricing
I would price the same as plasma cutting as the table time is very close (no pierce time), the prep work is the same.

Re: Scribe Pricing
LDR, there are a lot of good quality machines out there to buy that offered what I wanted. I ended up making my decision using a kt analysis theme, eventually you have to decide on something.

Re: Scribe Pricing
Bringing this back up, just to see if there are any other thoughts or variations to how people are doing it. I am looking to add it to my price calculating software, for some reason when people see where their money is going it tends to help with selling those jobs on the edge.

Re: Scribe Pricing
I use $100 / hr, as a base. It takes about 3-5 min to hang the scribe, turn the air on make sure the oiler is working etc. Then, about 3 min to switch back to plasma after I am done scribing. So, I charge roughly $15, plus by the inch for the scribe work. I usually run my scribe at around 40 ipm, unless I want a really light line, so I use roughly 4.5 cents per inch for scribe work, plus the $15 set up fee. If it's a large order or a really good customer I may waive that fee, depends on my mood at the time.

Re: Scribe Pricing
Great info Shane! Thanks for jumping in.
I don't do any scribe work at the moment but i've been interested in adding the capability to open up new possibilities on the art side... The hamster is spinning in my head, busy churning out ideas that I can't wait to execute on.
Thanks again for the info.
