Metal dyes - a question for Aussies
Does anyone know where to purchase metal dyes here in Oz? All the paint stores I go to give me the "stupid customer stare" when I ask for them.

As far as I know most people use Steel FX dyes and order from North America. I'm sure I recall a member here was looking into bringing them into Australia but don't think it happened.
The "customer service" here is something I can relate to. So often if it's not something they recognise, then instead of them taking an interest about a product they haven't heard of, and something they could add to their product line, you instead get that "stupid customer stare".

I clean the FX dyes out of my by airbrush with acetone. Works great. You also cut the dyes by 25% using acetone.

Yes You can add up to 25% acetone to the dyes to make them go farther. Doesn't seem to effect the color much. I got this info from Bill who makes the dyes. I just read something about alcohol dyes and think they are every similar. I am going to do some research on them and will post my results later. Busy cutting and finishing 500 pieces for the Spring show now so it will be a couple of weeks before I do my research.
