Does any one know if you can change the size of a part in sheetcam after you have saved it as a job??

I always go back to the original dxf file and scale to what I want and then run it through sheetcam. The output file should be the same just
sized differently. Once the g code is created you have to go back to the original dxf and rescale. That is my experience.

Thanks for the reply I did not think a resize could be done I just did not want to go back and remove all the dup lines from the original.

Simply scale it in Mach3 . You can make it larger or smaller. I have a scale button on screen. It asks how big it is now and then asks how big do you want it to be then it sets the scale to cut the part to size.

The only scale I see in Mach is next to the DROs and they don't seem to effect anything.
Can you send a screen shot of the button you are talking about??

How did you remove the duplicate lines before? QCAD has a remove duplicate lines command. I've never used it in this way, but it may help.

The way I did it for this image I changed layers in sheetcam. And un-click that layer as I am doing it to have the visual feedback that makes it easier. They are really not duplicate lines. this image was done with Inkscape and one is an inside and the other is a outside line of the original lines. This also allows me to select the lines I want to remove. This process usually does not take a long time but this image had a larger number and I should have scaled it before is started its clean up. Will Qcad remove them if they are not duplicates?

I'll have to look into it. It does accept a distance from field, so wonder if it would pick-up on those in/out lines. I wish inkscape would allow dxf exporting of the fill only. At least I haven't found a way.

not sure if this is what you are meaning The trace works much better if the image is color filled not a line drawing.

Yeah - full colored is much easier. That said, I do take line art and fill bounded areas to help through some jobs.

That scale function next to the dro is the one you need. Set X & Y to 2.0 and the part will be be cut 2x the original size. Set them to .5 and the part will be 1/2 the size. Set back to 1 and it cuts the original size. The toolpathing will always LOOK the same.

The Scale BUTTON is an add on to the screenset it is NOT in a stock screenset.

That seems straight forward and the display change would be confusing as the part would go off screen with a enlargement.
That also seem a really simple way to change from a square to a rectangle buy entering different values in X and Y .
Good info to file away.
