1250 duramax torch question

Post by cstroke »

Need a little help.

I have a hypertherm 1250 and just got a new duramax machine torch.
I want to use the 80 amp set up what parts do I need to order?
Also what are the part numbers for the fine cuts?
Where can i find the cut charts?
Thanks in advance.

Your Duramax torch came packaged with a CD.....on the CD is the complete manual with all of the cut charts and consumables information. If for some reason you cannot access this info in the CD...let me know and I can email a copy to you.

Hey cstroke, can you post up how you like your torch? I am thinking about pulling the trigger on a torch upgrade for my machine too. I have the T80M torch right now.

Sorry for the delay, been very busy with the real job.

I've only had a chance to cut 3/8" plate so far. The job I do requires 427 pierces in a 5' x 14" piece of plate.
First set of consumables I got 850+ pierces.(guessing that's inline) The one weird thing was the electrode was shot but the nozzle seemed like it still had some life in it.(keeping for a spare :D

The dross was removed with a piece of metal sliding against it. The edge cuts were slightly smoother than my old torch.

I've ordered a set of fine cuts and hope to try them out this weekend..

Thanks for the update. Let us know how the fine cuts work out for you. I've been considering the upgrade, but cut mostly 16 ga. cr. and wonder if I'll really save enough on the consumables to make it pay for the change.

I dont have any great new information with the consumables for fine cuts yet.I've run them and they cut faster than my old set up but I cant comment on consumable life yet.
I cut more 3/8" plates last weekend. 3200 plus pierces and I've used 3 sets of consumables. I know i'll do better once I figure out my moisture issue in my air. I have a refrigerated air dryer but I'm getting crazy amounts of water in my line.
I have a few low spots in my air lines so I'm thinking of running new air lines and maybe a drip leg to catch more of the water before it hits the refrigerated air dryer.

Whenever the electrodes wears out before the nozzle in a Hypertherm Powermax that generally means contamination in your air lines, usually water, sometimes oil or particulates. On my Powermax85 I average roughly 1000 to 1200 starts on a nozzle (shielded 45 or 65 amps) and the electrode lasts for 2 to 3 nozzle changes.
