Saving Image in Corel X6

Can anyone tell me how to save a bitmap image in Corel X6 as a DXF file. When I load it to sheetCam the image disappears. thanks. Tim

I have never tried it, but try export. Then choose DXF as the export file. I don't think it will work though as it is a raster image and not a vector image.

If you ever find out how to do that let me know :D .

I take it you want something that you can use to get a cut line from. A bitmap is a bunch of coloured pixels spread all over the place. A vector image has an outline and a fill. The outline is what you use for cutting.

You have to trace a bitmap to get the vector lines. Coreldraw has an autotrace feature or you can manually trace, then when you have your vector image you can export it as a dxf file. A successful autotrace requires the bitmap has distinct differences in colour where you would expect the lines to be. Gradual gradients and blends do not give the autotrace anything to work off. That's where manual tracing comes in and you use your own judgement to decide where you'll place the lines.

Indeed you will need to trace your bitmap manually or automatically. The best type of image for an autotrace is a black on white image with good resolution (larger size). The Freehand Bezier tool is a great tool for manually tracing since you can click all the way around your image until you get to where you started and you have a decent trace result. This can be further enhanced by selecting the Shape tool and then selecting all nodes on your trace then using the Reduce nodes slider located above your horizontal ruler to reduce the nodes and smooth out your trace which will make your arcs smoother, etc. Once complete simply delete the bitmap image from the page and Export your drawing or trace as a DXF. Hope this helps.
