positioning parts on material
How do I get previously cut files to stay on my material when I close SC? Every time I open SC, the 4X8 sheet does not show what has been cut out of it.

Save the .job file, then open that file again the next time you add to that sheet. (File -> Save Job)

I can open a file again, but the file that I try to add replaces the file that was opened first.

Re: positioning parts on material
Once you open the existing job file, go File -> New Part. Then import your drawing as usual. Otherwise you're importing a drawing into whatever part is already selected. (and replacing the existing one, as you noticed)

Re: positioning parts on material
Until everything becomes second nature, as a precaution I'd do a "Save Job As" as soon as you open it, so you create a 2nd copy. Then if anything goes wrong you still have your original job file.
