Hypertherm Plasma Cutters

Post by Metriccar »

I plan on cutting 1/8 to 1/4 inch material, so I purchased a Powermax 65, which I thought was overkill but some recommended it. Now I'm looking online and see they only list settings down to 10 gauge. What happens if I want to cut thinner? I'd need a different lower voltage/amp plasma cutter?

If you go to the Hypertherm website, you can download the operators manual. In the cutting charts, it goes down to 26 gauge at 40 amps.
The 65 is similar to my HT 1000 and you can dial it down to 20 amps. I have cut (successfully) .015" spring steel shim stock to make new reed valves for a compressor.
You have a great torch.
