Also - to add to what Tom has said - it is often times helpful to use a sharpie pen holder in place of the torch and simply draw your circles and squares instead of cutting them. This will give the same feedback, but without wasting the valuable material. That's what I did when I was getting started with my plasma table, and I have done the same with my cnc router tables when I was getting them dialed in.

David
Thats exactly what I did. I In the one image I taped it straight to the torch and turned off the torch height controller and all the stuff. Kept referencing it to the same poing with the marker and kept running it over and over again.

I am happy I only wasted a little bit of material thankfully. The one thing I have noticed is the wavey lines wont show like obviously plasma will in a cut wall of the material. Either way the thing is cutting some very very precise holes now and all shafts are pinned and not going anywhere thankfully.

Also thank you all for the comments.

In the image "got it fixed" are you talking about the wavy lines in the edge? You may have a the THC set to low and the torch is bobbing up/down to quickly.

Nice, that table looks like it can handle some pretty heavy plate.

Hello

Nice Table Congratulations.

I have been cutting with MyplasmCNC on two tables for several years.

Start it and be happy that it works.

Nice build. I built my water table that same way you did. I call it the picture frame method. Never again. It warped pretty bad even when I jumped around. I had to tack weld some bolts and brackets underneath to pull it down to the cross members. Next one will be bent over sheet metal out of stainless and just weld the corners up.

Yes and no. I ended up having holes that were completely jacked up where it was more of an advanced oval hahaha.

I keep seeing people do stuff out of stainless and I dont see the benefit in it. I know all of this is bad for you but Hex Chrome is just gross.

I agree on the warping, I had a 150 mi one way trip to the fab shop with a 20' x 500T press brake. I had to notch the corners to allow for the beam/punch clearance as they did not have any sectional punch's.

I used 3/16" hot roll for the 6'-2" x 12'-2" pan and tank, SS is overkill as you should be using an anti-rust additive (I use laundry soda) and the 2x2 water tray still shines 7 years later with a little buffing.

All that laundry washing soda does is create white junk everywhere. Time to make a new table for me and make a tank to drain and filter it to.

That’s an understatement lol. They just happened to be under that behemoth while bending that contraption. By the looks of that contraption I’d think it looks way to deep to be a standard plasma cutting water table.

My bad, it’s a decently deep water table by the looks of the hand holding it in that second pic. Plenty deep but not too deep. I’m taking notes ;)

In my defense I was originally going by this pic which would make a water table way too deep :p

The bend in question is for the water tank that is mounted below the table, the water tray itself is 5-1/2" deep. This project used an 8x20, 4x10 & 4x8 sheets of metal.

I had to put bubble gum under the feet so the table would not walk away on me..

Leveling feet.jpg

The foot / leg pivots up in case the table needs moved, which was quite often in the build as I have no overhead gantry.
