Been there, done that. Sort of a pita. The caveat for Scanything is that it only runs on Mach3 , Edingcnc, or Linuxcnc. So this excludes many of the better known cnc plasma tables, Plasmacam being one of them. But a low cost cnc table can be thrown together fairly easily running from Mach3. My guess is that for a scanning specific table, the total cost including camera/software could be held to well under $1k.
