CoralDRaw vs. a real CAD program?

Post by Black Forest »

I have read that a lot if not most of you all use CoralDraw for your drawing and CAD needs. I have just downloaded the trial version of CoralDraw X7.

Although it seems quite easy and intuitive to use for drawing I just wonder why some of you prefer CoralDraw over using a CAD program? I am quite proficient using GeoMagic, SpaceClaim and have been trying out Fusion 360.

It just seems to me that the direct modeling aspects of a real CAD program coupled with the parametric capabilities is more suited. But again I don't know CoralDraw. Have just played with it for a couple of hours whereas on my CAD software I have thousands of hours.

So what are the advantages of CoralDraw over a real CAD program? Or is it just that CoralDraw is very inexpensive compared to a real CAD program?

Use what works. If you have experience in other CAD programs and they produce the DXF files that you need, no need to use anything else. There are many here who use Autocad ro Inkscape etc... Not everyone uses Corel.

Usually for plasma cutting, there is no need for all the extra features that come with a full blown CAD program such as Autocad. All you need is a program that can produce Vector 2D drawings and Corel is super easy and fast for that.
