Post by jeep »

Having a few problems with my water table hoped you guys could help as I am fairly new to it all and inexperienced.

firstly can you use THC on a water table as I have THC on the table and seem to have bother with the water getting in the nozzle and the torch lifting away from sheet it is a long hypertherm torch with shielded consumables.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated Thanks

I use my THC with the water table all the time. Are you using a Feather touch by CandCNC by chance? Water tends to puddle up on top of sheets and if the air is not blowing between cuts to remove the water it will indicate the top of the water as the top of the sheet. This can (and does) cause problems at times.

Hi Peter,

I have THC on my water table, and it works just fine. I've never had a problem with water getting in the nozzle, the air coming out of the nozzle keeps any water that gets on the sheet blown away from the nozzle. I have made splash guards for the torch and the table that help control water splash, but I don't think they would really help much with a torch/water issue.

Sorry I can't offer more help, Steve

I have a water table and a Hypertherm torch. I have never had issues of water getting in from the nozzle end. Most times it is because the air is not dry going into the torch. This will cause issues no mater what you do. Clean DRY air is crucial.

I also make sure that when table rapids across the material it is above any potential puddles. When the air at the end of your work keep blowing when you are done cutting you also want to make sure it ends over the material. Most often it likes to end at the end of your cut and just stay there to cool off. I always make sure it moves over the material that remains. Then you have a lot less water splashing.

Just some ideas.

Thanks all of you for that at least now I know it should work I seem to find that it is the surface water that's the problem as the torch moves over to cut the next part and comes down to find its height the water touches the shield / nozzle and the torch lifts up and my controller lights up to say it has made contact due to the water getting behind the shield and nozzle so then I would have to take all the consumables out the torch and blow them down with the air line.

How far below do you boys have the water from the bottom of the sheet

It is a baileigh industrial 10x5 that I have using a hypertherm 105 plasma

Thanks again for any help

Mine is usually 1/4" to 3/8" below the material.

I run mine anywhere from 1/4" to 1/2" below the material, depending on how much has splashed out or evaporated. If you run too low you'll start getting smoke in the air, in which case you can raise the level up a bit.

ok does any one know how I can make the air run longer from the torch when it is repositioning to next part so that it stays dry and water free to hopefully stop it lifting from work piece.

How fast is the rapid speed on your table maybe you need to speed it up.
If you are taking too long to move to the next cut the air stops before you get there.
