Copper Plus Electrode Question (Jim?)
I have tried the copper plus electrode with fine cut per the consumables chart. Everytime I receive a 0-30 error on my Hypertherm 65. Not sure what the problem is, any help is appreciated. Everything works fine with 45amp consumables with the copper plus. Also fine cut and 45amp work fine with the regular electrode.

quoted from another of jims posts
Powermax FineCut consumables....because they operate at a much lower air flow rate...are susceptible to misfiring if inlet air pressure as well as the cutting air pressures are not correct. They also are a bit pickier about pierce height and cut heigh accuracy and settings.
make sure with gauge at the machine you have enough air pressure with machines flowing (above 85) and you should have an air filter before the plasma itself.
probably most of your issues are in your settings and air pressure if all works fine using standard consumables

Re: Copper Plus Electrode Question (Jim?)
The air coming in is clean and dry at 105psi. The Hypertherm 65 sets the air pressure internally automatically. Last time I tried torch didn't even fire once. Just threw the error. Should I manually override the air pressure?

Re: Copper Plus Electrode Question (Jim?)
I have tried the Copper Plus electrode in my shop just a couple of times...it worked perfectly normal with my Powermax85 with FineCut, 45 amp shielded as well as 65 amp shielded. I generally use the standard electrode as 99% of my work is just short run hobby type stuff (my work for Hypertherm lately doesn't allow much time for my shop!). My air pressure setting is always in auto mode.
My suggestion is to contact tech service directly at Hypertherm .....if anyone is familiar with this issue it would be them and I'm sure they will work with you to get to the bottom of the non-firing issue. If they cannot help get back to me and I'll try to get some process engineering people to take a look.

Re: Copper Plus Electrode Question (Jim?)
I tried the Copper Plus electrode in our PM65....didn't like it. I'd get an error code one time, misfire occasionally, just finally went back to the standard. Maybe I just didn't take enough time to play with it but we get good life with what we run so I figured I'd leave well enough alone.
