pierce+ on hsd130

Post by rikduk »

I'm trying to connect my pierce+ wires on the plasma so i dont loose 1 1/2 seconds of preflow each time the torch starts.
The manual states that inputs require 24vdc or dry contact closure.
I dont know what candcnc uses to turn torch on/off, but it works.
What i want to know is if its ok to shoot 24vdc on the input?
Not sure about dry contact.
Thanks

Richard,

The pierce input is to hold the pierce flow on for an extended period, this allows for better piercing especially at lower power levels on thin materials. It is not used to bypass pierce flow. The pierce flowrate is different than cut flowrate....so if you use this signal to keep the preflow on longer during the cut...cut quality will be affected.

To interface.....follow the suggested circuit connections listed in the operators manual in the installation section.

Thank you Jim,
I finally got how to wire it properly.
After further research, that function keeps the shield flow on so you dont wait for the preflow.
I think its called rapid pierce. So its faster when you have a lot of holes.
