Gate Hinges

Does anybody have a design for some stout gate hinges?

I have built a gate for a customer and I am going to have to build some hinges to hang on his 3/4 inch hangers (female).

The gate is 15 feet long, 4 foot high, made from 1-1/2 inch square tubing and backed with cattle panel.

After building and adding scenes, it has some serious weight to it, I told him I just don't trust the store bought adjustable hangers.

They would need to be adjustable with a bolt so he could move them up or down to accommodate his hinge posts.

Just like standard but heavy duty.

I have a few ideas but just thought I would throw it out there for advise.

Mornin,

I ran into the same thing with a entry gate I did awhile back. Things are pretty busy here this mornin. I have the hinge file around here somewhere, I'll attach later. We also had to attach a wheel to the end of the gate to support some of the load.

I am building an even longer gate this week and that hinge file will help a lot.

would a large barrel hinge fit in your application? i have used them to hang 18ft x 20ft high dry-kiln doors. the doors are made of 4 inch alum. channel filled with spray-foam and skinned in aluminum. even seen some bigger ones made of steel on Russian dry-kilns.
