PowerMAX 85

Post by CNCCAJUN »

Currently narrowed down to a TRACKER PRO TABLE with a HYPERTHERM PowerMAX 85.

Downdraft for dust elimination & cleaner cuts, not a water table . . .

That means my lowest setting is now 25amps.

Can I cut 26 gauge or 28 gauge on a machine with direct drive stepper motors?

300 ipm max I believe.

Anyone doing it now?

Steve,
I cut 30 and 32 gauge galvanized and tin plate steel all the time, just did some today. I run 45 amp consumables at 25 amps and 250 ipm. The reason for such a slow ipm is my torch height can't keep up with the warpage. I am even cutting on water so the warpage will be less than on a downdraft table. My cuts aren't as clean as I would like them to be but that goes back to the torch height control not keeping up. Sometimes the torch is dragging and sometimes it is a quarter inch away on the same part! As far as the direct drive motors I don't see any issue as long as you can keep up the speed. By the way I am running a powermax 85.
