arc light question?
Hello all!! I have recently purchased a arc light table and am wondering what I need to be able to work on dfx files on my laptop and then move them by thumb drive to the dedicated desktop connected to the machine. I really want to be able to do the drawing in my house and then move the designs outside. This may be a dumb question but what program do I need to ensure I have on my computer to be able to do that?? I want to become a vested member but I have to make sure I have the ability to download and manipulate the art first. Thank you so much for your time!!

Re: arc light question?
Originally I used the software that came with Plasmacam (DHCII version) and I messed around with some of the free download ones but then settled on buying CorelDraw X5, wish I had done that in the first place, also lots of help and tutorials for Corel.

Thank you for the response! Is there a downloadable version for windows 8 that I can use on my lap top and the dedicated computer for the table?

I'd check with Arclight first about using windows 8 for your table computer, last I heard they didn't recommend other than XP

hi,elroy337
I just purchased a arclight table to.
I downloaded the sheet cam from the disc Scott sent with the machine.
You have to go through the settings ,set plasma table, cut area, etc.
Then you can post process on youre laptop . then save it to usb then run out and cut it when youre ready.
You need a lot of memory though.
Hope this helps a lttle

Re: arc light question?
Thank you for your help!!! I have downloaded Gimp, inkscape, and sheetcam because of the videos on their website. I am starting to get the hang of it. Canyou tell me how to set the area within sheet cam that you place your vectoted images on? I am confused because when I save the images they always ask for inches or for metric settings. I have been setting everything for inches; is this correct? When I go into sheetcam I cannot adjust the "theoretic sheet size" as well? Thank you for the help!

Hi,
In Inkscape you click on file. Scroll down . Click import drawing
Then load drawing . When it opens . The screen you are talking about pops up. Click inches. unless youre in metric .
This gives full size drawing.
To change size of drawing click custom 25 is full size example 12.6 is have size
TO MEASURE I think you right click . click measure . then measure . when done. click end measure
Hope this helps

Re: arc light question?
I am not sure if you got the answer to your question of running your laptop for drawing.
I also wanted to do this. I run BobCad and ad to buy a 2nd seat to have an active software. Their free trial software would not do anything that would work on the active machine.
