OK...So I have this simple 10" circle that I need a star in the middle of it. So I created a circle at 10" then a inside contour with one step at 1". Then broke contours apart and the back minus center to get the inside out and just leave me a ring. The created the star and placed it where I want it and welded it to the ring. Looks great in Corel but the tips of the star looks like crap in sheetcam. Can someone explain what I might be doing wrong. Thanks in advance!

Re: Looks good in Corel but not in sheetcam
I can't answer the why but I have had a similar situation a few times and what I have done to fix it is to go back into Corel and zoom right in near the intersection point and add another node to the curve as close to the intersection as possible and it has fixed it. Probably still has the bump but by being so close you cant see it.
I have done this to your file (attached)and it looks fine when I load it into Sheetcam but I never checked it before adding the nodes. Murray

Murray, did you put another node at ALL intersections. I tried putting extra nodes only at the outer intersections, which got rid of those straight line bits but then go new straight line bits (extra ones) at the base corners of the star.
I have 2 solutions (one of which requires purchase of a plugin).
You can export as SVG which Sheetcam accepts. I've had lots of this dxf export problem with Coreldraw. It must be a Coreldraw problem because whichever version of dxf you use above v11 gives this messed up file. Version 11 make curves out of lots of straight lines, although otherwise the file looked right. SVG worked fine as it has done many times for me when Coreldraws dxf output messes things up.
The second option is to purchase a plugin / macro for Coreldraw called DXFTOOL. I have this on one computer ($60 per license so just bought one) and what it does is give nice smooth curves and minimal nodes in a dxf export. This macro exported the file fine and is my 2nd line of defence for exporting dxf from Coreldraw. While I'm mentioning that macro I'll say that the license is transferrable to a different computer. This is different from many Coreldraw macros which are locked to the software on your hard drive, so even if you format your hard drive you lose one of the "installs". See the heated debate I got into with Jeff Harrison of Macromonster about this matter https://coreldraw.com/forums/t/38260.aspx

Re: Looks good in Corel but not in sheetcam
I only added 1 node to the anti clockwise side of where each point of the star meets the arc. I didn't cut it but it looks fine on my Sheetcam, If dunnmfg requires I can cut one out in the morning to check.
I have been told that X5 on doesn't require dxf tool.

Re: Looks good in Corel but not in sheetcam
I have X5 and I tried dxf versions from 11 (lots of straight line segments) to 2000. Everything above 11 gave wonky results and I've had this issue on quite a few occasions. I even tried constructing the drawing a different way to see if that affected the output but it didn't. I made 2 circles, did back minus front to create the ring, then welded the star to it. Wonky dxf export again though.
It's interesting what you say though, I wonder if it's X6 that this issue has been fixed in. New thread coming up.
Keith.
