Hey guys i am new to this forum and corel draw.
It has been a big help. What i am running into is this "black and white" low quality image also has a gray area around the lettering. Causing the Sprocket area of the image to come out nice and the lettering to look wavy
Can someone please show me/ trace this image.
Or send me to a link to help explain, id assume there has to be an easier way than just hand tracing
Need help converting low quality image

Re: Need help converting low quality image
A low quality image is always going to be more challenging and normally require some addition manual manipulation to get right.
What I have done here is used the Corel X5 trace feature basically as explained in this forum by Gamelord but first to get rid of the grey I have used Bitmaps> Mode> Black and White> line art to create a true black and white image.
Prior to exporting as a dxf I have used Arrange> Ungroup all to select and remove drop shaddows, two of the letter drop shaddows were connected to the letters so I had to manually remove those and the exported to dxf.
Still not the cleanest but the initial image wasn't great. Also needs bridging.

Re: Need help converting low quality image
Here's a little something to get you started. I drew this in Coreldraw "cad style" and I wanted to draw the whole thing just for the practise but I have to move on to other more pressing duties. I drew it over the top of the bitmap image to approximate the scaling of the "gear teeth" curves.
If you're going to do a plasma cut for this image, always consider if everything will hold together in one peice when it's cut out. I see so many drawings and end up wondering how they will be cut and end up as one single peice.

With this drawing its being cut into a rectangular sheet with a light behind it... Shouldn't require much work besides the lettering . Also thank you for the help

Thanks for doing that little video Signtorch, I like the method you used to create the gear. FAR quicker than the way I did it.
